Bill driving Bruce & Tom at the Bass Festival
pull in Mancelona, Michigan.

Bill Huffman
from East Jordan, Michigan began pulling horses about 20 years ago. He
competes in heavyweight classes with his horses Tom & Bruce primarily in
Michigan but did take a trip out to Maine a few years back and had an awesome
time competing while there. Bill competes along side his wife Sherri and
on occasion will even borrow her horse Bob to pull. He has made his living
as a logger the past 30 years. The Polish festival in Boyne Falls is Bills
favorite place to compete each year because he has many friends and family
members who come out and support him at that pull. He considers his most
important accomplishment in pulling to be winning the most contests in the state
of Michigan back a few years ago while pulling the team of Prince & Bud.
Horsepulling has become a big part of Bills life. He says he can't wait
for spring to arrive each year so he can start working the horses and get them
ready for competition. Bill believes the hardest part of getting a team
ready to be competitive is getting a team to gait the same. Once you have
achieved that it is all down hill from there. |
