Florida, Kentucky duo crowned lightweight champs once again

Tandem outlasts local teams at county fair

Hillsdale, Mich. —
A day after setting a new world record in the heavyweight horse pull, the duo from Lake Panasoffke, Fla. and Cromwell, Ky. took home a national championship, this time in the lightweight horse pull.

For the second straight year Yoder’s team won both events, leaving a host of locals looking up at the standings, as they have become accustomed to.

It is the final destination following a long haul of events for Yoder and Hatfield. Throughout the summer the pair won events convincingly in many states, including Ohio and Kentucky.

Taking second for the second consecutive year was Jerald Keegan’s team from Reading and rounding out the podium was a team owned by Scott Fisher of Jonesville.

Keegan’s team fell just short of Yoder’s team’s final pull last weekend as well, at the Centreville Fair, where Yoder’s team took first and Keegan’s took third.

Fisher saw vast improvements after taking 6th and 12th in the event last year.

Jerry Briner of Jonesville also had a team in the competition. His squad took 10th out 18 teams.

The only other local team on hand was one owned by Tom Brown of Jonesville and they finished 17th overall
