Mike Hartwell of
Lanesville, New York has been pulling horses for seventeen years. You will
find him pulling 27½ feet in his home state
of New York and also in Pennsylvania but Mike also makes several trips into New
England during the season to compete in our very different short pull ( 6-12
feet) classes. A logger during the week up in the Catskill Mountains he
presently has two horses he is working with. Mike considers the horsepull
at the Rhinebeck Fair in New York as his favorite competition. Along with
driving his own horses you will also see him driving for and helping his
grandfather Carroll Ostrander during the season. You will notice Mike to
be one of the busier guys at most pulls as he helps hook for friends and fellow
competitors. He considers his first place finish at the fair in
Boonville, New York in 1999 as his finest accomplishment to date. |
