Ray Moore from
Lockport, Kentucky has been pulling horses for 25 years. Ray makes his
living as an operator and working the farm but when not working he can be found
competing in both the lightweight and heavyweight classes in Kentucky, Indiana,
Ohio, N. Carolina, Virginia and Pennsylvania. He presently pulls two
horses and says that his favorite places to compete are at the Kentucky State
Fair or anywhere in Ohio. He considers his most important accomplishment in pulling to be
all the friendships he has made while competing. Ray's daughter Tonya
sums it up best about her dad,
My dad has been pulling ponies or horses for as long as I can remember.
He taught me many things about pulling and how to be the best friend and hitcher
I could be. He taught me to respect my fellow horsemen and my horses.
Also, that it takes time and lots of hard work to be the best you can in the
horse pulling business. He loves to take green horses and watch them
progress into great pulling horses almost as much as seeing people's smiles at
county fairs when they are amazed by the strength of a 2000 lb. pulling horse.
He loves to go early to pulls so he can joke and chat with buddies. My dad
is a horseman in every way. |
