Russell VanVoorst
of Reynolds Indiana passed away on November 14th 2010. Russell was the ripe
young age of 86. Most of us only hope to make it that long in life. Russell
was a special man who had a large impact on several people in and out of the
horsepulling industry. He began pulling in 1948 and always seemed to like the
big boys. He moved from Indiana to Bear Lake Michigan in 1961 and resided there
for over 11 years. He than moved back to Indiana in 1972. He teamed up with
Benny Reed in 1984 to pull the record load of 4575 on the Dynamometer Truck at
the Hillsdale Fair pull in Michigan. He last pulled in 1984. Russell was also
a Veteran and as a young lad was drafted in the service in 1944 to fight in WWII
and than went on to Japan & the Philippines. Thank you for your service to our
country Mr. VanVoorst. Your a hero in our eyes and you will be missed by many! |
