Terry
Smith of West Farmington, Ohio has been pulling
horses for 40 years. He competes with his pair of lightweight horses in NY, PA, OH, MI,
ME and KY. When you see Terry at a horsepull he is generally one of the
busiest people on the grounds because when he is not driving his own horses he
is usually helping or driving for someone else. Terry is part of a
horsepulling family including his father before him, his uncles and cousins. He makes his living
logging. Terry told us the Erie County Fair in Hamburg, NY and the Allegany
County Fair in Angelica, NY are his favorite pulls to compete in during the
year. He considers his most important accomplishments in pulling as having
won 52 contests in a row driving Jacko and Rex for Arthur Durgin as well as
winning the 3200, 3400 and 3600 classes all in one day while driving Lloyd
Perkin's Low Down Bill & Bill team. Terry has been fortunate to meet a lot
of great people and make many wonderful friends all over the USA and in Canada
while competing in the sport he loves. |
