2016 Round-up Schedule
Does anyone else that attended the EDHA membership meeting this spring remember being told that the mini class would be held outside on Saturday? Seems they have changed their minds and now the mini pull will be inside beginning at 8am on Saturday.

I was at that meeting. As I recall we were presented a slate of classes to vote on and it was clearly stated that the minis would be pulled outside. The slate passed overwhelmingly. Now a month before the event the powers that be decide to pull them inside. They have never had any respect for the membership. Time to vote these clowns out.

If you read our by-laws for eastern draft horse. You would know that the board of directors can over turn any decision if they feel it's in the best interest of our members or the round up. I am a director myself for eastern draft. Feel free to contact me at 603-370-7163. My name is Pat I will answer any questions you have on this matter.

so pulling horses at 2am in the morning in front of an empty house. Does that benefit the membership or the event? Having a hard time figuring it

George this is Sue Smith on the board of directors. The slate of classes can say anything, the board sets the date and time of the classes and where they will be pulled. We state that right in the meetings and that was stated in that meeting. The decision to pull the mini's in the arena is based on insurance requirements.

Still Sue Smith speaking for myself not the board. I resent being called a clown. This is a volunteer position and we do a lot of work to have roundup running smoothly and trying to do the best for the association. My position will be available in November so if you are interested let me know and I will certainly put you down to fill a position.

Sue allow me to address both your posts. if as you say the decision to pull the minis inside is influenced by insurance why not pull them friday morning. makes more sense then trying to pull 4 classes in one day

Well George there are alot of things that have to be taken into consideration when trying to set up classes at roundup. We cannot do the mini's on Friday because this was suggested in the past and the kids that pull usually can't get there for Friday. For me the mini's do not take priorty over the horses but also everyone needs to consider the mini's bring cash to roundup by membership, campers, merchandise. We are all going to do the best we can to move the classes along. As for not being able to be in the association if we all felt that way we would not have a roundup or an association. Just my opinion you are welcome to yours but I would hope before name calling you look at the big picture of how much work is put in by the board.

My husband and I do not believe in name calling but we do believe in honesty and being able to express an opinion. The reason we are able to post this response is because after complaining to friends about the EDHA website they told us about this site. We’re not sure what the purpose of the EDHA website might be. It provides so little information. The Doubletree the past few years has had so much inaccurate and omitted information that we feel that we must check with the event before going as to make sure the information is correct. We’re not even sure we will renew our membership next year because we only joined in the first place to get the schedule and it has proven to be unreliable. We were very excited about the potential of the roundup this year. We felt the addition of the dynamometer classes would make for a great weekend. The best class we have seen in New England this summer was this past Sunday in Cumberland Maine and is was a dynamometer class. So we were miffed to see the recent change to the roundup schedule. We feel the addition of the mini class on Saturday will make staying for the late classes impossible. We have spoken to several people who share our concerns. We think it is a shame it turned out this way.

Ronncarol-Sue Smith again, I just wanted to state that you have every right to your opinion. We have had a struggle with the doubletress more so last year then this year I believe. I will take responsibility for that. I am not going to make excuses for it, some info was given that was not correct and some was incorrectly typed information. I will no longer be doing that in 2017 either. I think some of this is a couple people trying to do a lot of things that are too much for a couple ppl to do. We didn't change the mini class, the board never set were it was going to be until Sept.9th when we had our board meeting. In the future I think the slate of classes can only be the slate, not where ppl want them to be pulled, even though we did say that in the meeting. I appreciate you expressing your opinions and knowledge that some of what you have said is valid.
