Jim Henshaw
Looking for some help. I had someone email me asking if it was possible to run down some information on a Jim Henshaw who would have pulled horses in the Michigan/Ohio/Kentucky areas in the 70's and 80's. The person looking for help met Mr. Henshaw when he was a boy and was curious about what happened to him.

Jim is from Winchester, Indiana. I think he still lives there. I saw him about 5 years ago at the Illinois pull at Dinky's. He is Dewey Henshaw's grandson who was a horse puller too. Jim pulled with Doc Sellars years ago. Johnny Stover might have some information.

I saw him pull at the Erie County Fair in the early? 80's. He had a new truck and trailer, and his light weight teams were unbeatable. The trailer had the following words written in bold letters on its side: "Henshaw's The Name; Pullin'The Game. I've often wondered why he got out of pulling so soon. Could your reference to his grandfather be Dewey Hessick, Fremont, Ohio?

I remember when he won the Columbus pull with Rod and King. They were a pair of bad cats.

My uncle just ended a telephone conversation with John Stover who reports that Jim Henshaw is alive and currently resides in an assisted living facility in Indiana. Thanks again to Mr. Torrey for the assistance.

No, I knew Dewey Hessick also. He used to come over to Indiana and pull back in the early 60's. A little guy with a big pair of black horses.
