edha roundup planning EDHA Roundup planning is right around the corner any suggestions as to what classes you would like to see at this years Roundup. Login to post a new message arnold Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 05:58 AM At least 2 FFA classes, the weight horses get to pull more than 2 classes, Its not fair just to have 1 FFA.And leave the Oxen at home. arnold Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 06:12 AM 1 machine class, And one distance class. Ben Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 06:42 AM A machine class or two would be nice diamond Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 02:42 PM The round-up would much better represent Northeastern horsepulling if they presented it as they did the first 25-30 years of the clubs existence. There was never any discussion of classes back then. They were standard each year. Three boat classes most commonly found in New England, 2 machine pulls and a distance pull. It was a representation of the 3 pulling styles most commonly found in the Northeast. As I recall back then you had a good representation of Maine entries along with those from New York and further West each year. At some point I believe in the mid 80's the EDHA abandoned that practice by doing away with the machine classes and then last year the distance class. In so doing they alienated most pullers from Maine and out West. In my view it not only makes for an inferior show but shows a lack of respect for those pullers. I understand that many don't care for the machine but you could offer the 27 1/2 foot pull on a stoneboat or sled if that was preferred. I think the EDHA should give serious thought to going back to the standard class schedule which proved to be so successful for so many years. Bob Smith Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 04:47 PM I'm a fan of the Dynamometer AKA Machine. Two classes would be great. How about a 3400 class & Heavys?
