Angelica, NY
It was the understanding of the pullers that places 1-6 would be divided equally and 7-11 would be divided. Everyone else would be paid as the placed.

I was sitting right behind the announcers table and I believe that as you described was the original decision but then they changed their thinking on how to divide the money. For all I know they may have changed their mind again.

The truth of the matter is that we would be looking at a winner and legitimate results from the NYS Lightweight Championship if it were on the dynamometer instead of a stoneboat built back 1907 or so. The amount of rain that fell for the most part of the day would not have stopped the pull if it were on the truck. Not too mention the fairness factor of it, and how it pulls the same nomatter which end you find it on,,, but then there are a few who would rather just rely on they're luck rather than skill and hard work.

I agree 100% with WD. To determine any real lt or hy weight champion, the only true and fair way is by using the truck. Not to mention how much time it saves

Why would you have a nys championship pull and not have it on the truck?

I'm a big fan of the dynamometer. I agree with WD that if they had used the dynamomter in Angelica they would have managed to finish the pull. I have seen many big boat pulls come to a lousy ending where as I believe it wouldn't have been the case if they were pulling on the machine.

Just a thought. Both New York state championship pulls are on the boat. Why not have the NY state championship pulls on both the boat and machine? Ask those fairs that host machine pulls whether they would be interested in hosting a state championship. You could have a boat and a dynamometer state champion in both the lightweight and heavy class.
